Cathay Pacific’s Third Mangrove Tree-Planting Drive Promotes Climate Resilience

Cathay Pacific will be launching its 1 Ticket, 1 Tree initiative on 26 July 2023, in conjunction with the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem. During this event, for every ticket sold online from 26 to 30 July 2023 in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia, Cathay Pacific pledges to plant a mangrove tree in Southeast Asia.

This initiative began in Thailand in 2021 and was later expanded to Southeast Asia in 2022. Since then, more than 21,000 mangrove trees have been planted across the region, demonstrating the airline’s commitment to environmental conservation.

Fostering Sustainability Leadership through Community Participation

The 1 Ticket, 1 Tree initiative is part of Cathay Pacific’s broader dedication to sustainability leadership. Volunteers and members of the community are invited to participate in the tree-planting activities, bringing together more than 180 volunteers, including Cathay Pacific employees, partners, and disadvantaged community members, to plant trees in their respective countries.

Dominic Perret, Regional General Manager of Cathay Pacific Southeast Asia & Southwest Pacific, expressed the airline’s pride in continuing the initiative for the third consecutive year, despite facing challenges as an airline.

The positive feedback received from employees, partners, and the community has been encouraging, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to making positive changes for the environment and local communities, one tree at a time. Cathay Pacific believes that as a global airline, it can lead change and is dedicated to collaborating with like-minded partners to achieve sustainability goals.
