NEA 2023 Recognises 29 For Commendable Sustainability Efforts

The Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) have announced the winners of the National Energy Awards (NEA) 2023. Out of 114 submissions, 29 outstanding initiatives were honored for their contribution to sustainability in the fields of Energy Management, Energy Efficiency, and Renewable Energy. This annual event, held since 2018, acknowledges Malaysian corporations and institutions that embrace transformative sustainability practices in line with the nation’s environmental goals.




Leading the Path to Sustainability

These NEA winners are at the forefront of Malaysia’s commitment to a Just Energy Transition, Net Zero, and sustainable development. Minister for Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, commended this year’s strong participation, highlighting how these initiatives raise awareness and drive adoption of sustainable energy practices across industries. The awarded projects collectively achieved significant energy reduction and carbon emissions savings, reflecting their impactful contributions.

ASEAN Recognition and Future Inspiration

Among the NEA winners, 23 will represent Malaysia in the ASEAN Energy Awards, which align with the ASEAN Centre for Energy’s goals. The participants have set an inspiring example, demonstrating ideas, innovation, and implementation that encourage businesses to follow suit. The competition’s lead judge, Ir. Chen Thiam Leong, emphasized NEA’s vital role in fostering sustainable practices amid Malaysia’s pursuit of robust economic growth and climate action.
