Despite stricter requirements, 71 models qualify for awards, with Hyundai Motor Group leading with the most awards overall. Changes include an updated moderate front overlap test and revised pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation.

These alterations aim to encourage automakers to pursue higher levels of safety and address gaps in occupant protection and pedestrian safety. Overall, the changes reflect a continued commitment to improving vehicle safety standards.

“We followed the tougher requirements we introduced last year with another major update to the award criteria in 2024,” said IIHS President David Harkey. “This year’s winners are true standouts, offering the highest level of protection for both vehicle occupants and other vulnerable road users.”
