Despite a slight decrease in flights, the surge in passenger numbers signals the end of the pandemic’s impact on travel. Rome’s Fiumicino airport led in passenger traffic, followed by Milan Malpensa and other major airports.
Carlo Borgomeo, President of Assaeroporti, noted challenges such as high flight prices and uncertainties surrounding agreements and taxes.
Overall, the milestone of nearly 200 million passengers reflects both success and ongoing turbulence in Italy’s aviation sector.
