Johari reminds against selling products labelled ‘palm oil free’
THE Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani warned that every imported product that has signs of discriminating against palmoil products will be fined as much as RM250,000, in line with Section 69 of the Trade Description Act 2011.
He said his ministry will work with the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry to take action against product-importing companies that discriminate against palmoil in the country.
“We see many imported products from abroad which have nothing to do with palm oil, do not have palm oil content but the packaging states ‘palm-oil free’.

“We have laws. Our products should not be discriminated against. In Indonesia, you can’t find this,” he said to the media after launching the Malaysian Sustainable PalmOil (MSPO) logo on Saturday (March 9).
“Out of 251 premises surveyed around the Klang Valley, 80 were found to display products labelled No-Palm-Oil,” he also said in a Facebook post.
