Denuvo DRM Maker Unveils TraceMark, Watermark Tech for Gaming
Irdeto, the company behind the controversial Denuvo DRM, has introduced a new tool called TraceMark for Gaming. This technology aims to combat high-profile game leaks by adding visible or invisible watermarks to game files.
These watermarks serve as unique identifiers, making it possible to trace leaked material back to its source. Even if an image is cropped, compressed, or blurred, the watermark should still be detectable.
While this move is understandable from a developer’s perspective, it may lead to wider adoption of Denuvo, which has faced criticism from PC gamers. The battle against leaks continues, and game leakers may need to get creative to avoid detection.
