New: Umrah Cartel Next To Be Targeted?

Recently, the MyCC (Malaysian Competition Commission) was reported to be considering penalties for 81 companies involved in an Umrah cartel. These companies allegedly colluded to set prices for Umrah packages, which unfairly impacts Muslims.

An Umrah Cartel

While making a profit from Umrah is acceptable, the problem arises when profits are excessively inflated. If these companies competed fairly, the prices offered would be lower.

This case reflects a troubling trend where individuals or businesses use religious images for personal gain. Hopefully, no one will defend these companies by saying they should be spared action due to their Islamic image.
