On May 20, 2025, Malaysia launched the A.T.M.O.S Sphere at the 17th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA’25), marking a significant step in advancing its role in the regional space economy. The unveiling ceremony, led by Dato’ Nonee Ashirin binti Dato’ Mohd Radzi, Executive Chairman of Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd and Strategy Advisor to Global Exhibitions and Conferences (GEC), was attended by Yang Berbahagia Datuk Seri Haji Hasnol Zam Zam bin Haji Ahmad, Secretary General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
The A.T.M.O.S Sphere is a key highlight of LIMA’25’s expanded Space and Innovation pillar, aligning with the event’s theme, “Innovate Today, Thrive Tomorrow.” Hosted by Malaysia’s Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and co-organized by GEC, LIMA’25 is a premier Asia-Pacific platform showcasing advancements in aerospace, maritime, and now space technologies. The A.T.M.O.S Sphere emphasizes the transformative impact of space technology in areas like climate science, telecommunications, navigation, agriculture, and national security.
