PUTRAJAYA, 25 March 2026 – Batik-inspired installations and vibrant cultural performances are transforming IOI City Mall into a festive Raya destination as the mall presents its Meriah Aidilfitri 2026 celebration, running from 27 February to 5 April 2026.
Inspired by Malaysia’s rich flora and fauna, the festive installations reinterpret traditional batik motifs through contemporary design elements and vibrant colour palettes. Large-scale decorative structures, floral batik patterns, colourful arches and hanging installations transform the mall’s central spaces into a lively Raya landscape, creating an immersive festive environment for visitors and families celebrating the season.
The design concept blends traditional batik heritage with contemporary expression, where enlarged motifs inspired by nature are paired with modern decorative structures and a vibrant colour palette to create an elegant festive atmosphere throughout the mall. As Malaysia’s largest retail shopping mall, IOI City Mall provides the expansive setting for this year’s batik-inspired festive installations.
The name “Meriah Aidilfitri” reflects the joyful and lively spirit of the Hari Raya season, celebrating togetherness, gratitude and festive traditions shared among families and communities.
Wilfred Wong, General Manager of IOI City Mall, Putrajaya said the celebration reflects the mall’s commitment to showcasing Malaysian cultural heritage while creating engaging festive experiences for visitors.
“Meriah Aidilfitri is about celebrating the warmth and togetherness that define the Hari Raya season,” said Wong.
“Through the batik-inspired installations and cultural activities across the mall, we hope visitors will experience a festive environment that highlights the beauty of Malaysian traditions while bringing families and communities together.”
A key highlight of the celebration is the Batik Art Exhibition by Malaysian artist Farah Mohan, located at the LG East Wing in front of Poh Kong, which runs throughout the campaign period. The exhibition showcases the artist’s contemporary interpretation of traditional batik patterns while celebrating the intricate craftsmanship and cultural heritage of this timeless art form.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in exclusive batik workshops conducted by Farah Mohan on 14 March, where participants can learn batik techniques directly from the artist and create their own designs inspired by her work.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, IOI City Mall will host a series of traditional cultural performances throughout the celebration, including dikir barat, silat demonstrations, gamelan music, joget dance performances and kuda kepang, alongside lively kompang musical walkabouts along Symphony West and Symphony East.
Festive booths located at LG East Court and LG Centre will also feature a curated selection of Raya vendors offering festive treats, cookies, traditional attire and accessories, recreating the lively atmosphere of a traditional festive marketplace.
In addition to the festive installations and performances, shoppers can enjoy exclusive rewards through IOI City Mall’s Gift-With-Purchase campaign for CLUB IOI members. With a minimum spend of RM250 in a single receipt, members can redeem 1,000 CLUB IOI points.
Those who spend RM500 in accumulated receipts will receive a Raya packet and foldable bag, while shoppers spending RM1,000 can redeem a DIY Rumah Meriah Aidilfitri festive house set. At the highest tier, shoppers who spend RM3,500 will receive an exclusive batik art cushion designed by Farah Mohan. *while stock last
