Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow welcomed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement of a RM100 one-off cash aid to Malaysians aged 18 and above but urged the federal government to implement long-term solutions to tackle the rising cost of living. He acknowledged current financial constraints faced by the government but stressed the need for policies that create jobs and support businesses. Chow also called on Malaysians to give Anwar time to manage economic challenges.
