Family of Late Mango Founder Defends Son Amid Homicide Investigation

MADRID — The family of Mango founder Isak Andic, who died in a fall near Barcelona 10 months ago, expressed confidence in his son Jonathan’s innocence following reports he is under investigation for possible homicide. In a statement, the family said it will continue cooperating fully with authorities and trusts the process will confirm Jonathan’s innocence.

Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia reported that a judge began formally investigating Jonathan Andic in September due to conflicting witness statements, with investigators examining his phone for evidence. However, the 10-month probe has yet to uncover conclusive links between him and his father’s death.

Isak Andic, 71, died after falling over 100 metres while hiking with relatives near Montserrat. The Istanbul-born businessman, who founded Mango in 1984, was worth US$4.5 billion at the time of his death. Jonathan Andic now serves as president of Mango’s holding company MNG.
