Fortinet Expands OT Security Platform for Critical Infrastructure Protection

Fortinet has announced major upgrades to its Operational Technology (OT) Security Platform, enhancing threat visibility, segmentation, and secure connectivity for critical infrastructure.

These improvements aim to defend industrial sites from evolving cyber threats while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Enhancements on OT Security Platform

Advanced Threat Detection: New FortiGate Rugged NGFWs and FortiGuard OT Security Service now support over 3,300 OT protocol rules, 750 OT IPS rules, and 1,500 virtual patching rules, offering deeper OT-specific security insights.

Secure Segmentation: Fortinet introduced ruggedized industrial switches (FortiSwitch Rugged 108F & 112F-POE) for granular security enforcement, preventing lateral movement across OT networks.

5G Connectivity: New FortiExtender Rugged 511G and FortiExtender Vehicle 511G provide high-speed, secure 5G connectivity for remote OT sites and fleet vehicles, featuring Wi-Fi 6 and eSIM support.

AI-Driven Security Operations: Updates to FortiAnalyzer, FortiDeceptor, and FortiNDR enhance threat detection, compliance tracking, and threat hunting with MITRE ATT&CK ICS Matrix support.

Fortinet’s unified security platform is built on FortiOS and integrates seamlessly with the Fortinet Security Fabric, making it one of the most comprehensive OT security solutions in the industry.

Industry Recognition & Customer Success:

Fortinet was named the sole leader in Westlands Advisory’s 2023 IT/OT Network Protection Platforms Navigator™.

Honeywell integrates Fortinet solutions into its cybersecurity portfolio to enhance industrial security.

Alleima reports faster, more stable network connections and 10x quicker support response times.

FCC Environment CEE has reduced its security team’s workload by 15%, allowing focus on zero trust and IT/OT convergence.

These updates reinforce Fortinet’s leadership in OT security, helping organizations strengthen cyber resilience across industries like energy, transportation, and manufacturing.
