KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 – Gamuda Bhd announced the signing of an agreement to implement the Northern Perak Water Supply Scheme (NPWSS) involving the Perak state government, Khazanah Air Perak Sdn Bhd (KAP) and Prasarana Air dan Irigasi Perak Sdn Bhd (PAIPP).
In a Bursa Malaysia filing, Gamuda said KAP will oversee source works while PAIPP will be responsible for developing, operating and maintaining the water treatment plant component of the project.
Perak Water
The NPWSS is a strategic initiative by the federal and state governments to address long-standing water shortages in northern Perak.
The project is designed to transfer up to 1,500 million litres of raw water daily from Sungai Perak to Bukit Merah Dam. Of the total, 500 million litres per day will support irrigation needs, while the remaining supply will cater to domestic and industrial demand, including the Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park.
