Kuala Lumpur, 22 February 2024 – Generali Malaysia successfully clinched two prestigious
awards at the Insurance Asia News Awards for Excellence 2023, held on 23 rd January 2024 at the
Island Shangri-La Hotel, Hong Kong. The awards won were CSR Initiative of the Year and CEO
of the Year (Fabrice Benard).
Rooted in over 190 years of community-focused values, Generali Malaysia has been recognised
with the “CSR Initiative of the Year ” award for its impactful, The Human Safety Net (THSN)
initiative. Launched globally in 2017, THSN is a movement that aims to create positive change by
helping vulnerable communities worldwide.
In Malaysia, Generali Malaysia’s THSN initiative began in 2018 with a focus on supporting
vulnerable families with young children. In 2023, Generali Malaysia continued its commitment by
raising over RM273,000 for Project Makan Sihat – a company-wide fundraising activity aimed at
improving the nutrition and health of high-need families and children in PPR Lembah Subang.
The initiative surpassed its initial goal, ranking second globally in the THSN 2023 Global Challenge.
Continuing its effort to empower the communities as part of its year-long agenda, Generali
Malaysia has amplified its efforts with additional awareness campaigns, workshops, and family
support groups in collaboration with Yayasan Generasi Gemilang, demonstrating its dedication to
supporting underserved families.
Awarded CEO of the Year on the same night, Fabrice Benard, CEO of Generali Insurance
Malaysia Berhad and Country Head for Generali entities in Malaysia emphasised, “Our
commitment to empowering communities goes beyond insurance. We believe in cultivating a
legacy of care, compassion, and positive change within the communities we serve.”
Fabrice’s leadership in driving social progress and sustainable growth responsibly through the
“Lifetime Partner” strategy has been pivotal to Generali Malaysia’s success. He was recognised for
his exemplary leadership during the integration of MPI Generali Insurans Berhad, AXA Affin
General and Life Insurance Malaysia. The milestone acquisition, valued at close to RM1.29 billion,
created one of the largest general insurers and emerging life insurers in Malaysia, serving close to
2 million customers.
Reflecting on the transformative year, Fabrice expressed his sincere gratitude to Generali
Malaysia’s valued customers, business partners, and colleagues for their unwavering trust and
support throughout this journey of growth and breaking boundaries.
