KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 — The Malaysian insurance and takaful industry, represented by LIAM, MTA and PIAM, has pledged full support for the government’s Base Medical and Health Insurance/Takaful (MHIT) plan under the RESET strategy. The Base MHIT plan, set for rollout in 2027, will target the uninsured and provide cost-effective options for retirees and middle-income families. Designed with deductibles, co-payments and annual limits, it ensures sustainability while promoting responsible healthcare use. Industry members also highlight transparency, publishing reference price ranges for common private healthcare services to empower Malaysians with cost visibility.

LIAM, MTA and PIAM reaffirm their commitment to delivering affordable, transparent and sustainable healthcare protection, positioning the Base MHIT plan as a cornerstone of financial security.
