GDP Forecast Revised Upward Malaysia
The FBM KLCI rebounded 0.71% to 1,713.09 on Monday, supported by improved regional sentiment as easing geopolitical tensions and falling crude oil prices lifted risk appetite. Market breadth turned slightly positive, with 540 advancers against 539 decliners. Gains were led by Technology (+1.20%), Financial Services (+0.92%), and Transportation & Logistics (+0.66%), while Energy (-0.58%), Industrial Products & Services (-0.54%), and Utilities (-0.30%) lagged.
Technical indicators show the index reclaimed both EMA9 and EMA20, reaching an intraday high of 1,718.31 before easing. Resistance remains at 1,720–1,740, with downside support at 1,700–1,680. A decisive break above 1,720 could pave the way for a retest of 1,760–1,770.
Domestically, sentiment is expected to stay supported by regional optimism, though gains may be capped by geopolitical uncertainties. Investors will monitor the Fed’s policy decision, U.S. inflation data, and Big Tech earnings for global cues. Locally, corporate earnings and sector developments will also guide trading.
Sector focus remains on Technology, with investors eyeing U.S. earnings for spillover sentiment. Energy may stay pressured after oil’s sharp retreat, while selective interest could support Financial Services and Transportation.
