MBI Investment Scam: RM3.8bil in Assets Seized, 17 Arrested

Police have seized RM3.8 billion in assets linked to the MBI International Group Ponzi scheme under Op Northern Star, including RM527.5 million recently frozen. Assets include four luxury yachts (RM36.3mil), 477 properties (RM150mil), four condominiums (RM12mil), 37 bank accounts (RM328mil), and cash (RM283,070). Three more suspects, including a Tan Sri businessman, aged 46, 54, and 58, were arrested in Kuala Lumpur and Penang between May 1-17, 2025, bringing the total detained to 17. The suspects allegedly acted as proxies laundering funds. Further arrests and seizures are possible, with no politicians currently implicated.
