The signing ceremony took place on December 20, 2023, between PTP’s CEO, Marco Neelsen, and Mitsui’s General Manager of Sales Department, Atsufumi Takahashi.

The agreement signifies a long-term partnership covering equipment purchases, inventory management, and after-sales services. PTP’s Chairman, Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, highlighted the commitment to expanding capacity and capabilities to meet customer growth demands.

Marco Neelsen mentioned that the procurement is part of PTP’s Ipsum Magna Programme, focusing on sustainable upgrades and expansion through automation and digitization.

The new E-RTG cranes are scheduled for delivery by Q3 2025. Neelsen emphasized PTP’s sustainability goals, aiming to reduce 45% of emissions by 2030, with 85% of their RTG fleet already electrified, set to reach 100% by early 2024.

Atsufumi Takahashi expressed Mitsui’s gratitude for PTP’s collaboration and the additional order of 48 units, in addition to the 35 units ordered in December 2022.

Mitsui, a pioneer in crane manufacturing, is committed to delivering the E-RTGs on time as per the agreed schedule. Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia’s busiest transshipment hub, has a capacity to handle 13 million TEUs annually and is currently ranked 15th among the world’s top container ports.

“PTP’s strategic approach to continuously enhance efficiency and optimise its footprint, has contributed tremendously to keeping the terminal’s advantages in an increasingly competitive global market”, says PTP’s Chairman, Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh.
