NTT DATA Boosts Asia-India Connectivity with New MIST Submarine Cable System
March 17, 2025 – NTT DATA, a global leader in digital business and technology services, unveiled a bold step in its commitment to the Asian market today, announcing the upcoming launch of its MIST submarine cable system. Set to be fully operational by June 2025, the 8,100-kilometer cable will link Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand directly to India, delivering a massive capacity of over 200 terabits per second (Tbps).
The MIST system marks NTT DATA’s first undersea cable network to establish direct connectivity with India, a move that promises to seamlessly integrate Singapore—one of Asia’s key tech hubs—with India’s rapidly expanding digital economy. The cable first connected to NTT DATA’s Mumbai landing station in February 2023, followed by its Chennai landing station in May 2023, laying the groundwork for this transformative project.
Beyond enhancing connectivity, MIST will tie into NTT DATA’s cutting-edge data center campus in India. Once fully operational, the campus will support over 500 megawatts (MW) of IT load, boosting the company’s global capacity from 1,400 MW to more than 2,200 MW. This expansion underscores NTT DATA’s strategic focus on bridging Asia and India, positioning the company as a key player in the region’s digital future.
