Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) is undertaking a comprehensive review of its operations, including assets, processes, expenditures, and workforce, to ensure competitiveness and future readiness. The review includes an enterprise-wide workforce assessment, which may lead to a 10% reduction in staff. Notifications for affected employees will be rolled out in stages until the end of 2025, with a commitment to transparency and respect. To support this restructuring, Petronas will impose a general hiring freeze until December 2026, except for critical roles evaluated case-by-case. The initiative aims to align the organization with long-term goals and drive growth in a challenging market environment.
