Profit-taking ends Bursa's winning streak
Bursa Malaysia ended its seven-day winning streak, closing lower due to profit-taking in utilities, energy, and technology sectors. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI dropped 5.93 points or 0.36% to 1,642.77, despite reaching a high of 1,660.29 early in the day.
The index fell to a low of 1,637.45 in the afternoon. The broader market saw 857 losers compared to 357 gainers, with turnover rising to 4.19 billion units valued at RM4.55 billion. Profit-taking, particularly in specific sectors, contrasted with the upward trend in most other Asian markets, which were buoyed by foreign buying and stronger regional currencies.
