A highway in Mallaysia: Not the Kelantan road
BACHOK – The recently completed upgraded stretch of the FT003 road from Melor-Ketereh to Kampung Pak Badol will soon be extended by another 6km to Pasir Puteh at an estimated cost of RM169 million, said Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Speaking at the project handover ceremony on Sunday, Nanta said the contractor has received the letter of award and the extension is expected to boost socio-economic growth, particularly in Kelantan.
He praised the earlier 33km upgrade, completed in June, for finishing three months ahead of schedule, saving RM5 million from the original RM195 million budget. The four-lane dual carriageway, which began construction in November 2020, improves mobility and connects key towns in Kelantan and Terengganu.
The project includes upgrading the Sungai Melor bridge, building a new bridge in Kampung Mahligai, constructing a pedestrian overpass, and installing street lighting.
