Singapore, Shenzhen to Boost Economic and Innovation Ties, Says DPM Gan

SHENZHEN – Singapore and Shenzhen are poised to deepen cooperation as key gateways linking South-east Asia and China’s Greater Bay Area, said Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong. On his working visit to Shenzhen, Gan invited local firms to explore opportunities in Singapore and the Sijori Growth Triangle, which includes Johor and the Riau Islands. He highlighted potential collaboration in digital economy, green technologies, healthcare, and biotech, noting Singapore’s ongoing investments in Shenzhen despite China’s economic headwinds.

Innovation

Shenzhen Party Secretary Meng Fanli underscored strong bilateral trade, citing rising investments between both sides. The two leaders also discussed expanding collaboration in artificial intelligence, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, with Singapore emerging as Shenzhen’s largest foreign visitor source in 2025. Gan noted the importance of student exchanges in strengthening ties. Both leaders expressed confidence that stronger Singapore-Shenzhen collaboration could unlock new opportunities for businesses and enhance connectivity between their regions.
