Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) in Malaysia has achieved certification as the first Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the Asia Pacific region for its Oncology services. The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) International granted this recognition, highlighting SJMC’s commitment to upholding regulatory standards, patient care, safety, and overall satisfaction.
The ACHS evaluation process assessed various aspects of SJMC’s operations, including patient care, services, performance improvement, management systems, workforce, and safety environment. Karen Luxford, CEO of ACHS International, praised SJMC’s commitment to high-quality care and achieving CoE certification for its oncology services.
SJMC’s Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Lin, emphasized the hospital’s person-centered approach and holistic care, along with its impressive survival rates for certain cancer types. The oncology team at SJMC utilizes cutting-edge technologies for optimal disease detection and treatment planning.
The hospital has performed approximately 900 successful bone marrow transplants, and its services are at the forefront of regional cancer care, including proton therapy and immunotherapy. ACHS International, a not-for-profit organization, focuses on enhancing healthcare quality through standards and accreditation. This recognition marks a significant milestone for SJMC in providing high-quality oncology services and patient-centered care.
