Axiata Group Bhd’s shares were suspended on Wednesday, pending a significant announcement amid reports of a merger deal with PT Sinar Mas Group involving their Indonesian telecom operations. Bloomberg reported the transaction, involving PT XL Axiata and PT Smartfren Telecom, is nearing finalization. Bursa Malaysia approved the suspension request under specific listing requirements. Axiata’s shares closed at RM2.37 on Tuesday, valuing the group at RM21.8 billion.
