Wall Street Higher as Yields Ease

Wall Street rose slightly amid easing US Treasury yields, while investors await upcoming US payrolls data for direction.

NEW YORK, Oct 2, 2026, Wall Street closed marginally higher on Thursday as easing US Treasury yields and a measured Federal Reserve tone offered some relief to investors. The US 10-year yield slipped to 5.24%, while December Brent crude settled at USD102.31 per barrel amid renewed supply concerns.

The Dow edged up 0.12% to 50,981.42, the S&P 500 gained 0.18% to 7,665.32, and the Nasdaq rose 0.27% to 26,868.54. Gains were capped by firm manufacturing price pressures, which kept inflation concerns alive.

In Asia, technology strength in Japan and South Korea provided a positive lead, with the Nikkei and Kospi advancing, while Hong Kong markets were closed for National Day after the Hang Seng Index edged higher in its previous session.

Investors remain focused on upcoming US payrolls data for clearer direction on the Fed’s next policy move.
