Wang Ehsan dedicated for the benefit of the people of Terengganu and Kelantan

The MADANI Government always maintains fairness and equity in the allocation of grants to all state governments. This is reflected in the increased allocation from the Federal Government to the state governments and the Development Allocation for all states for the years 2023 and 2024. State grants are distributed to all states simultaneously every month.

“The MADANI Government is committed to ensuring that the Wang Ehsan fund is specifically allocated for the benefit of Terengganu and Kelantan, with priority given to spending that truly helps the people of Terengganu and Kelantan. The government is always open to discussions and suggestions from the Terengganu and Kelantan state governments regarding the use of the Wang Ehsan fund so that it can directly benefit the people of Terengganu and Kelantan,” explained YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

Wang Ehsan

Regarding the distribution of the Wang Ehsan fund, it is not a federal government grant stipulated by law. Nevertheless, the MADANI Government has disbursed RM786 million of petroleum Wang Ehsan to the Terengganu State Government and RM200 million to the Kelantan State Government in 2023.

The government also disbursed Wang Ehsan totaling RM172.3 million to the Terengganu State Government and RM58.6 million to the Kelantan State Government last week to finance the state government’s emolument commitments, in addition to payment of RM103.1 million for the Terengganu State Government’s obligations to its contractors.

Any remaining Wang Ehsan funds will continue to be utilized for Terengganu and Kelantan through projects or community welfare programs such as poverty eradication programs and basic infrastructure projects for the well-being of the people in these states.
