Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced the highest-ever increase in civil servants’ remuneration, at a rate of 13 per cent.
The increase will be effective from Dec 1 this year.
The last time the civil servants’ salaries were revised was 12 years ago, with the highest increase previously being at 13 percent.
Civil servants will take home a minimum overall monthly income of RM2,000 under the revamped Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) says Anwar Ibrahim.
“Currently, the minimum overall income of civil servants is RM1,765. A new criteria and measurement will be introduced; the minimum overall income including allowances will be RM2,000,” the Prime Minister says. Anwar says this when launching the national-level Labour Day celebrations here on Wednesday (May 1).
