5 PN MPs File Lawsuit Against PM Over Malaysia-US Reciprocal Trade Agreement
Five Perikatan Nasional MPs had filed an originating summons at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Jan 19 to challenge the Malaysia-US agreement on reciprocal tariffs, as they deemed it unconstitutional, null, and void.
Signed on October 26, 2025, without prior parliamentary debate or full public explanation, the bilateral deal—aimed at balancing trade and reducing tariffs—has drawn fierce criticism for allegedly compromising national sovereignty. PN claims no mandate from Parliament, Cabinet, or the Conference of Rulers was properly obtained, and the agreement’s terms, as presented by MITI, favor the US disproportionately. Opposition MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal has led calls to oppose it fully, insisting Malaysia’s dignity is not for sale.
The MPs, namely Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu), Fathul Huzir Ayob (Gerik), Awang Hashim (Pendang), Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (Masjid Tanah), and Abdul Khalid Abdullah (Rompin), had filed their suit via Messrs Karthig Shan.
