For many remote communities, the energy transition is not only about cutting emissions. It is also about whether families can rely on something as basic as having the lights on after dark, charging a phone or giving children more time to study.

Kampung Sat Residents Gain Reliable Solar Power
That is the focus of GoRental Global’s #PowerToEmpower initiative, which has now completed its first Malaysian deployment at Kampung Sat, Sungkai, Perak.
The project supports approximately 10 Semai households and around 100 residents through an off-grid solar and battery energy system, with 10 portable battery energy storage systems (BESS) deployed to provide cleaner, more dependable electricity for everyday needs.
Over a projected 10-year period, GoRental estimates the system will provide around 43,800kWh of renewable energy and avoid approximately 120 tonnes of carbon emissions, while reducing reliance on kerosene and diesel.
The Kampung Sat project follows GoRental’s earlier #PowerToEmpower deployment in Huay Nam Rin Village, Chiang Mai, and marks the first in a planned series of community energy initiatives across Malaysia.
