Battersea Power Station has announced the appointment of renowned urban design practice Studio Egret West to evolve Rafael Viñoly’s original masterplan for the remaining 16 acres of its 42-acre riverside neighbourhood. The updated vision could deliver up to 3.2 million sq ft of residential, commercial, cultural, and leisure space, ensuring the project reflects societal and technological changes while advancing London’s Growth Plan.

The site now boasts over 2,200 homes, 800,000 sq ft of office space, a new Zone 1 Underground station, and more than 150 retail and leisure outlets. The Grade II listed Power Station reopened in 2022 after an eight-year restoration, welcoming overr 40 million visitors.
Future phases will connect to Nine Elms Park and include Gehry-designed buildings completing Electric Boulevard. A partnership with Wandsworth Council will also deliver around 200 new council homes. Leaders from Battersea and Studio Egret West described the appointment as a pivotal step in shaping the neighbourhood’s next chapter, extending its cultural and community significance across London.
