Three Billionaires
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) launched a scathing attack on America’s wealthiest elites during the nationwide “No Kings” protests on Saturday, accusing several billionaires of enabling President Donald Trump’s rise to power and deepening inequality.
“Yeah, I am talking about Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and the other multibillionaires who were sitting right behind Trump when he was inaugurated,” Sanders declared to a cheering crowd.
“The very same billionaires who funded his campaign, who have bestowed gifts upon him, and who have seen huge increases in their wealth and power since Trump took office.”
Sanders, long a critic of economic inequality, said the United States was “sliding into oligarchy” under Trump’s leadership. His remarks follow his recent “Fighting Oligarchy” tour with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), highlighting what he described as the billionaire class’s control over America’s economy and politics.
