Fama says food and vegetable supplies will remain stable and affordable during the Northeast Monsoon
The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) has assured that Malaysia’s supply of raw materials and vegetables will remain stable throughout the upcoming Northeast Monsoon season. Fama chairman Aminuddin Zulkipli said production levels are sufficient, and prices are expected to stay relatively low. He added that Fama is collaborating with importers and coordinating inter-regional supply support to prevent shortages in flood-affected areas.
Preparations are currently about 80% complete, with the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) assisting in emergency planning. The 2025/2026 monsoon season is expected to begin next month and last until March 2026. Aminuddin made the remarks after launching the Food and Agro-Based Industry Carnival (IMAT) in Penang, which aims to boost local agro-entrepreneurship, market access, and youth participation. Twelve entrepreneurs also received grants worth RM375,030 under various Fama assistance programmes.
