KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6, 2026 – The FBM KLCI closed marginally higher at 1,631.75 (+0.05%) on Monday, lifted by selective buying in technology and healthcare counters but weighed down by declines in construction and plantation stocks. Market breadth remained slightly negative, with 599 losers against 564 gainers, as investors stayed cautious ahead of the tabling of Budget 2027 this Friday.
Technology (+1.74%) and Healthcare (+1.43%) led sectoral gains, while Construction (-1.46%) and Plantation (-1.39%) were the top laggards. Market participants largely stayed on the sidelines, awaiting clarity on fiscal measures and external conditions such as bond yields and crude oil prices.
Budget 2027
Technical indicators show the index remains below the 1,650–1,660 resistance zone, with downside risks towards the psychological 1,600 mark if selling pressure intensifies. Until a decisive breakout occurs, the near‑term outlook remains weak, with Monday’s uptick seen as a pause rather than a recovery.
