Ringgit Weakened in Feb
KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended lower on Wednesday, snapping a four-day rally, as profit-taking emerged after the benchmark index entered positive year-to-date territory, while the ringgit also closed slightly lower against the US dollar.
At 5 pm, the FBM KLCI fell 6.87 points, or 0.42 per cent, to 1,641.44 from Tuesday’s 1,648.31.
The index opened 2.99 points weaker at 1,645.32 and traded between 1,639.13 and 1,646.66 during the session.
Market breadth remained positive, with gainers outpacing decliners 575 to 465, while 43 counters were flat, 1,193 untraded and 12 suspended.
Turnover declined to 2.45 billion units valued at RM2.27 billion, compared with 2.59 billion units worth RM2.27 billion previously.
Meanwhile, the ringgit ended its four-day winning streak, easing to 4.0855/0940 versus the greenback from Tuesday’s 4.0835/0875, amid mild profit-taking. (Dec 17, 2025)
