Trump Issues ‘Take It or Leave It’ Tariff Ultimatum to 12 Countries
BEIJING: China has warned the Trump administration against reigniting trade tensions by restoring tariffs on Chinese goods in August, threatening retaliation against countries that cut China out of supply chains. The warning comes after President Donald Trump notified trade partners of sharply higher US tariffs starting August 1, unless deals are reached. China has until August 12 to finalise an agreement to avoid further import curbs. The People’s Daily urged dialogue and cooperation, labelling Trump’s tariffs as “bullying” and emphasising that defending principled positions is the only way to safeguard China’s legitimate rights and interests.
