The Upskilling Grant for Aerospace and Medical Devices Industries, a collaborative effort by CREST, MAIA, and AMMI, concluded successfully on March 28, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur. Over the past year, the initiative trained nearly 3,000 individuals, including 1,829 industry professionals and 1,130 students, while empowering 93 companies and strengthening 34 educational institutions.
The program addressed talent shortages in Malaysia’s aerospace and medical devices sectors by providing industry-relevant skills, enhancing workforce competitiveness, and fostering stronger industry-academic ties. Key achievements include training 1,041 professionals from 60 medical devices companies, upskilling 788 workers from 33 aerospace firms, and supporting 7 educational institutions with grants. The initiative has bolstered Malaysia’s position as a hub for high-value industries.
Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary General (Industry), MITI, captures its significance: “This initiative exemplifies how public-private collaboration can bridge the talent gap and ensure Malaysia’s workforce is prepared for the future.”
