The Customs Department seized over 80,000 vapes and nearly 1,000 liters of vape liquid, valued at RM5.1 million, in separate raids in Penang and Selangor. In the first raid on April 3 at North Butterworth Container Terminal, 14,200 vape units and 220 liters of vape liquid worth RM1.5 million were confiscated, misdeclared as plastic material. Two men, a port agent and a Chinese national in their 30s, were detained, with the latter admitting ownership of the container. In the second raid on April 10 at Port Klang, 71,886 vape units and 786 liters of vape liquid and electronic gels were seized. The items are believed to have been smuggled from China for the local market.
