Defence Ministry Plans Major MAF Modernisation Procurements Under 13MP RP1

Kuala Lumpur, December 15 — The Ministry of Defence plans multiple major procurements under Rolling Plan 1 of the 13th Malaysia Plan to modernise the Malaysian Armed Forces, including medium-range air defence missiles, two Multi-Role Support Ships, surface-to-surface missiles, infantry vehicles, short-range air defence and mortar upgrades.

Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin said these align with phased service-specific plans: Army Next Generation, Navy’s 15-to-5 Programme and Air Force CAP55.

Separately, Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni revealed studies for legislation curbing excessive sugar promotion advertisements. Deputy Science Minister Datuk Dr Mohammad Yusof Apdal announced a new Planet VR virtual reality space module for National Planetarium use next year.
