Economy Minister is back but targets Islamic party on taxes

Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, despite being on extended leave, actively countered opposition claims on social media regarding federal tax collection. In a May 3 Facebook post, he dismissed allegations by PAS and Perikatan Nasional that the federal government marginalizes opposition-led states like Kelantan in revenue distribution, calling it recycled rhetoric to incite anti-government sentiment. Rafizi challenged PAS’s demand to independently collect Kelantan’s taxes, questioning the state’s capacity to generate sufficient revenue and address development issues like the KB Sentral bus terminal and water supply problems.
