The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) in Malaysia is intensifying efforts to prepare for a new legislation mandating EPF contributions for non-Malaysian citizen employees, effective from October 2025 wages for November 2025 contributions. Both employee and employer contribution rates are set at 2% of monthly wages. This applies to non-Malaysian workers with valid passports and employment passes, excluding domestic servants.

The EPF has conducted over 30 stakeholder engagement sessions with entities like the Ministry of Home Affairs and employer groups to ensure readiness and alignment. Previously optional, this mandatory coverage aims to enhance social protection and equity in the labor market. Employers must register with the EPF online or at EPF offices. A dedicated EPF website page will soon provide implementation guidelines and updates.
