Malaysia Bolsters EV Hub Status with INV New Material’s Battery Separator Facility Launch

PENANG, June 30 – Malaysia solidified its role as Southeast Asia’s leading electric vehicle (EV) hub with the launch of INV New Material Technology’s RM3.2 billion lithium-ion battery separator facility in Penang. As the region’s first such commercial plant, it produces 1.3 billion square meters of critical EV battery components annually, aligning with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and Chemical Industry Roadmap 2030. The facility creates over 2,000 jobs, including 550+ high-skilled roles, fostering technology transfer and workforce upskilling. With advanced automation and sustainable practices, it attracts global investment, strengthening Malaysia’s EV ecosystem and high-tech manufacturing leadership. – Bernama
