Fortinet: Cybercriminals Exploit Vulnerabilities 43% Faster, Urgent Action

Fortinet’s 2H 2023 Global Threat Landscape Report reveals that cybercriminals are exploiting industry vulnerabilities 43% faster than in the first half of 2023.

Key findings highlight the need for better cyber hygiene, faster patch management, and adherence to vulnerability disclosure best practices. Notably, 44% of ransomware and wiper attacks targeted the industrial sector, and botnets showed significant resilience.

FortiGuard Labs also reported that many organizations detected exploits from old vulnerabilities. Additionally, 38 advanced persistent threat (APT) groups were active, and dark web discussions focused heavily on finance, business services, and education sectors. Fortinet emphasizes the importance of collaboration and transparency to combat cybercrime.
