GCC Aims for US$180 Billion in Trade with Asean by 2032, Says Kuwait Crown Prince at KL Summit

At the 2nd Asean-GCC Summit in Kuala Lumpur on May 27, 2025, Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah announced the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) goal to increase trade with Asean to US$180 billion (RM759.6 billion) by 2032. In 2023, trade between the GCC and Asean reached US$130.7 billion (RM551.55 billion), making the GCC Asean’s seventh largest trading partner. Sheikh Sabah emphasized that proactive economic policies could enhance investment and market confidence to achieve this target, noting the significant economic and population influence of both regions.
