HWUM Watt-A-Run 2023 Promotes Good Health and Well-Being

Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) is organizing Watt-A-Run 2023 in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) Goal 3, which focuses on promoting good health and well-being.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, 27 May 2023 in Putrajaya, is a collaborative effort between Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Student Association (HWUMSA), HWUM AHappierU secretariat, and JomRun.

Watt-A-Run 2023

With an expected turnout of over 1,500 participants, Watt-A-Run 2023 aims to encourage healthier lifestyles and balanced living among Malaysians. It aligns with HWUM’s positive education initiative, ‘AHappierU,’ which introduces the 10 keys to happier living by Action for Happiness, United Kingdom, to the university community and beyond.

HWUM Head of Registry and Academic Support Project Sponsor Nicholas Ong said, “Watt-A-Run will be the University’s first official run. All are welcome to participate in this run, especially those who have never taken part in a public run before. Join us and try out this feeling of shared excitement with over 1.5K runners.”

Health and Well-Being

“As outlined in the 10 keys to happier living by Action for Happiness, ‘Exercise—take care of your body’ and ‘Trying out—keep learning new things’ are two keys to a happier life. Towards ‘AHappierU’, we welcome all, to be part of this life-changing event and experience the excitement of the crowd and the joy of reaching your goals with us,” he adds.

The event will feature a 5km run, followed by a concert showcasing talents from HWUM and other private universities. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a lively Zumba session and engage in interactive activities promoting the United Nations’ sustainability agenda, aimed at fostering green practices within the community.
