Kuching, Sarawak, 17 October 2024 — In reaffirming its commitment towards improving lives within communities it operates in, Ibraco Berhad (“Ibraco”) revealed that its ongoing community outreach and support programme has benefited a total of 315 underprivileged families.
Working in collaboration with HOPE Place, a local non-governmental organisation focused on providing aid to underprivileged communities, HOPE Place has distributed essential food supplies and daily necessities to financially distressed families across the city.
Concurrently, Ibraco also provided free commercial space for HOPE Place to operate its Kedai Bajet. The purpose is to sell all good condition 2nd hand items received and to raise funds to purchase essentials for all under its care.
Datuk Chew Chiaw Han, Group MD of Ibraco Berhad, said, “As a responsible corporate citizen and a sustainability-oriented organisation, Ibraco strongly believes in playing a pro-active role in reducing social inequalities by assisting underprivileged communities in and around our business operations.”
“We also understand that our corporate social responsibility efforts must be both consistent and long-term focused so that it can have a positive and tangible impact on our society at large. That is why community outreach and support programme this year marks the 8th consecutive year of our partnership with HOPE Place,” he added.
Since 2017, Ibraco and HOPE Place has assisted more than 2,000 underprivileged families, touching the lives of some 10,000 individuals across the State of Sarawak.
Mr. Kevin Wan from HOPE Place, said, “Ibraco is indeed a dedicated partner that shares our vision of giving hope and touching lives of the community for a better future.”
“Before carrying out this community outreach programme, our team has taken the time and effort to engage local communities to fully understand their needs. This extra effort is not only practical but also sends a message to those who are in need that someone cares and are willing to help.”
