iMotorbike Unveils Trend Data Showing Top Motorbike Models in Malaysia

Based on iMotorbike’s latest data, the Honda RS150R emerges as the most popular motorbike, while Yamaha is recognised as the most sought-after brand.

The findings are based on iMotorbike data from July 2021 to July 2024.

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 July 2024; iMotorbike, Southeast Asia’s leading online platform for buying and selling pre-owned motorbikes, has released randomised user data including purchasing and consumer preference trends. The data highlights key trends, preferences, and behaviours of motorbike enthusiasts and buyers in Malaysia, offering an in-depth insight to understand and capitalise on the dynamic landscape of motorbike commerce.

Based on the data, motorbike riders in Malaysia have a clear preference for brands and models of bikes that they like. The Honda RS150R (4.8 per cent) emerges as the most popular motorbike, while Yamaha (32 per cent) is the most sought-after brand.

Furthermore, the user trend data highlights Malaysians’ clear preferences in motorbike types, with Moped, Naked, Scooter, Super Sport, and Touring ranking as the top choices. Meanwhile, the average age of 31.6 years for buyers and 38.9 years for sellers underscores the broad appeal of motorbikes across diverse age groups, reflecting their pivotal role in fulfilling the mobility needs of Malaysians.

According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Malaysia has over 16,773,112 registered motorbikes. Nearly 83 percent of Malaysian households own a motorbike, making it the second most popular mode of transportation in the country. With worsening traffic congestion and an increase in gig jobs for extra income, the number of motorbike owners in Malaysia is steadily rising.
