Intel Corp names M'sia-born chip industry veteran Tan Lip Bu as CEO
Intel Corporation has named Malaysia-born Tan Lip Bu as its new CEO, effective March 18, 2025, succeeding interim co-CEOs David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus.
With over 20 years in semiconductors, Tan previously led Cadence Design Systems as CEO from 2009 to 2021, driving innovation and cultural transformation. He rejoins Intel’s board after stepping down in 2024.
Frank Yeary, Intel’s independent chair, praised Tan as “an exceptional leader” with a proven track record. Tan expressed optimism, saying, “I believe with every fiber of my being that we have what it takes to win.”
