International Sustainable Energy Summit 2024 Leads Energy Transition Aspirations

The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, through the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), hosted the 6th International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) from August 20-21, 2024. The summit, inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, has attracted over 3,000 participants from various sectors.

The theme, “Accelerating Energy Transition Through Innovation,” emphasizes the nation’s commitment to achieving its energy transition goals. Key initiatives include increasing renewable energy capacity to 40% by 2035 and 70% by 2050, reducing coal-based power generation, enhancing grid resilience through digital technology, and promoting cross-border renewable energy trade.

New measures announced include expanding access to green electricity, transitioning to a market-based system, diversifying renewable energy sources, and accelerating energy storage implementation.
