Kuala Lumpur’s Plan For 2040 Targets 139 Sites for Redevelopment

The Kuala Lumpur Local Plan 2040 (KLLP 2040), gazetted on May 28, 2025, identifies 139 sites for redevelopment, focusing on obsolete public housing, commercial, and institutional areas like Wangsa Maju flats, Pasar Borong Kuala Lumpur, and Danau Kota Uptown. Launched by PM Anwar Ibrahim, the plan aims to accommodate a population growth to 2.35 million by 2040, with 40% of 762,500 housing units being affordable. KLLP 2040 outlines six goals, including 70% public transport usage and sustainable urban development. Public feedback saw 13.15% acceptance from over 28,000 responses.
